See the Olympic Torch!

The route of the Olympic Torch has been announced and it will come within a short car journey of the Miskin Manor.

The Torch makes a 70-day journey around Britain and comes to our part of South Wales on Day 7, Saturday May 26.

The day will start in Cardiff with the torch heading to Barry and then to Merthyr via Caerphilly and Pontypridd and then down the valley to Bridgend.

We’ll have to wait until the New Year to find out the street-by-street detail but guests at the Miskin Manor will certainly have plenty of opportunity to see this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Afternoon Tea at The Manor

In the middle of the 19^thcentury it became fashionable for ladies of quality to invite their friends into their home in the afternoon to take tea. Soon sandwiches and small cakes were added and a British institution – afternoon tea – was born.

Today afternoon tea is still popular, particularly as a special treat and the Miskin Manor is the perfect venue.

We have our own pastry wizards and their creations are a feast for the taste buds and the eyes.

Afternoon tea is served between 2pm and 6pm throughout the year although please check for changes in December.

We offer a range of teas to suit your requirements including those who are gluten-intolerant (please let us know in advance if you have special dietary requirements).

Served on bone china in the drawing room, afternoon tea at the Miskin Manor is ideal for special celebrations such as birthday and anniversaries or lovely way to say “thank you”.

The traditional Miskin Manor Cream Tea features a delightful selection of finger sandwiches and freshly-baked scones served with clotted cream and strawberry with an assortment of cakes made by our chefs and a choice of teas or hot drinks. It costs £12.50 per person.

In the Welsh Afternoon Tea, finger sandwiches and freshly-baked scones are served
with Welsh Cakes and Bara Brith, a choice of teas or hot drinks. It costs
£12.75 per person.

Or you can choose your favourite bits from what we offer including traditional
scones with Chantilly cream and jam, toasted teacakes, home-made fruit cake, a
variety of teas or a cafetiere. You can even add a glass of house champagne!

Our First Medium Evening!

The Minstrel Hall at Miskin Manor played host to the first medium evening on Sunday the 30^th October.

By candlelight, Christine O’Neil and her team took the assembled guests through a remarkable journey of Mediumship and presented many of the attendees with messages from loved ones that have now passed over.

Christine is one of the UK’s leading Medium-Clairvoyants and founded the Guiding Light Centre in Barry, South Wales. The Guiding Light Centre is a Training Centre for Mediums and Psychics and offers a wide variety of training courses in Mediumship and Psychic development for those wishing to pursue a career as a Medium-Clairvoyant, or those who have a genuine interest.

There was such an incredible sense of warmth and energy in the room that the readings could have gone on all evening – but for the fact that dinner was waiting!

A sumptuous 4 course meal followed by Tea and Coffee was enjoyed and one could tell that most were reluctant to get up and leave at the end of the evening.

The event was enjoyed by all and many were left asking when the next one was being held! So watch out for more events in the not too distant future.

Wales in Bloom 2011

The team at Miskin Manor were all delighted to win our category in this year’s Wales in Bloom and now we have the plaque to display.

Three of us traveled up the M4 to Chepstow for the presentation of plaques and certificates. We won class 9b for hotels, guest and public houses and restaurants.

The day was hosted by Chepstow Town Council and started with a tour of Chepstow Castle which is one of the most impressive in Wales. It is said to be the oldest stone-built castle in Britain.

It was inspiring to meet so many people who had made so much effort to improve their local areas. Wales in Bloom is not just about flowers, it’s about community involvement.

People came from all over Wales to receive their awards which shows how seriously they take the competition.

The plaques are real works of art and were made by potter Ned Heywood who is based in Chepstow. The Manor’s plaque will be displayed prominently.

Greetings to all,

This is our first blog on wordpress and we would like to take this opportunity to give a few details about who we are and what we do.

Miskin Manor Hotel & Health Club prides itself on not being Corporate and has been privately owned by The Rosenberg Family since 1996 and is currently run by 2nd generation siblings Amanda & Ben Rosenberg, who work very closely with their team of dedicated staff.

Miskin Manor is a Grade II listed AA Four Star Hotel set in 22 Acres of the most Wonderful Gardens that would encourage anyone to become green fingered.. This really is a “Hidden Gem” offering our guests a Warm & Friendly Welcome to Wales, but ideally located just off Junction 34 of the M4 and a small distance from Cardiff, Swansea and just over Two Hours from London…with Free Parking, Free WiFi and Free Helipad.
